Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. - 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Sunshine Camp
the place to be!
Welcome to Camp!
Sunshine Camp, a ministry of the United Methodist Church, is a weekend Christian Camp Retreat for adults with intellectual disabilities, held during the last weekends of both April and September. It was original established in 1976 by Mabel and Arthur Carlton after noticing campers who had "aged out" of 4L had nowhere else to go.
For many years, Sunshine Camp called the Blue Lake camp area in Andalusia, AL it's home before moving to the larger YMCA Camp Chandler facilities in Wetumpka, during the Fall of 2023, where it continues to put sunny smiles on camper's faces!

Two magical evenings await at camp: Night One brings everyone together around the glow of the firepit to gather for storytelling, jokes, and the sharing of cherished camp memories. The event concludes with the Camp Song and evening prayer.
On Night Two, the energy shifts to the recreation pavilion where the DJ spins requested tunes while campers either dance under the stars or enjoy the rhythm from the comfort of Rockin' Chairs.
